1. How soon after treating with Complete Pond Detox can I treat for parasites?

Ideally, you should leave 72 hours between using Complete Pond Detox and treating for parasites. This ensures the treatment will be fully effective.

In an emergency situation where fish are clearly stressed and a major parasitical outbreak has been identified this can be reduced to around 24 hours if absolutely necessary.

Ideally, you wouldn’t dose Complete Pond Detox unless you’re confident that you won’t need to treat for parasites within the next 72 hours. 

2. How soon after treating for parasites can I use Complete Pond Detox?

Again, 72 hours is ideal or as soon as the medication is fully spent and you want to remove it from the water.

Complete Pond Detox can strip out or reduce the effectiveness of pond treatments, so it’s best used once those treatments have done their job.

3. Can I use Complete Pond Detox alongside other water treatment products?

No, we recommend a clear 72-hour gap between each treatment.

Don’t use another water treatment within 72 hours after using Complete Pond Detox.

Don’t use Complete Pond Detox within 72 hours after any other water treatment.

This includes things like dechlorinators, ammonia binders, and other conditioners.

4. Can I use it with blanket weed treatments?

Complete Pond Detox should not be used within 72 hours before or after a blanket weed treatment.

If the product stays in the water and causes cloudiness, leave a full 72 hours after the water has cleared before dosing with Complete Pond Detox.

5. What does Complete Pond Detox actually do?

Complete Pond Detox neutralises harmful chemicals like chlorine and heavy metals, clears water, and helps your pond find balance fast, especially after water changes or when things just look off.

6. How quickly does it work after adding it to the pond?

The product starts working immediately upon contact with the water. In most ponds, noticeable improvements in water quality can be seen within a few hours.

7. How soon does the water clear?

In general:

A standard dose will start to clear the water within 12 hours, and most ponds return to full clarity within 24 hours if well filtered.

A double dose may take around 24 hours to clear, with full clarity generally restored within 36 hours, that’s usually the maximum.

8. Is it safe for fish, plants, and filters?

Yes, it’s completely safe for all pond life. It won’t harm your filters or beneficial bacteria either.

9. How much do I need for my pond?

The dosing is simple, 10g treats 1,000 litres (220 gallons). Just scale it up depending on your pond volume.

10. How often should I use it?

Ideally use it weekly to maintain good water quality, or when needed to address water quality issues.

Also suitable before water changes.

11. Can I use it in winter or only during warmer months?

You can use it all year round. It’s not temperature-sensitive and works just as well in cold water.

12. Does it affect pH or hardness?

Nope, it won’t alter your pond’s pH or hardness. It’s designed to detox without altering your ponds water parameters.

13. Does it remove chlorine and chloramine?

Yes, it’s highly effective at removing both chlorine and chloramine from tap water.

14. Will it clear green water or algae?

It’s not an algaecide, so it won’t directly kill algae, but by improving water quality and clarity, it can help reduce the conditions algae thrive in.

15. Can it be used in a newly filled pond?

Absolutely. It’s ideal for newly filled ponds, it’ll neutralise any contaminants in tap water and help get things off to a good start.

16. What makes it different from other water treatment products or dechlorinators?

Complete Pond Detox is the only product of its kind that removes chlorine, chloramine, heavy metals, and restores clarity, all in one treatment.

There are other products that do bits of the job, but none that cover this full range as effectively, or deliver the same results, as quickly.

17. How should I store it?

Keep it sealed, dry, and out of direct sunlight. Store it somewhere cool, a shed or cupboard is perfect.

18. Is it safe for wildlife like frogs and newts?

Yes, it’s safe for all wildlife that might use your pond, including frogs, newts, and birds.

19. Can I overdose it?

The maximum safe dose in any 24-hour period is 4 single doses, spaced 2 hours apart.

20. Some of the product doesn’t fully dissolve, is that normal?

Yes, it’s completely normal for a small amount not to dissolve fully. This isn’t a problem, and any remaining particles will usually be removed by your pond’s mechanical filtration over time.

21. Do I need to turn off UV clarifiers, pumps, or filters when using it?

No, you don’t need to turn anything off.

22. Can I use pond water on my garden or plants after using Complete Pond Detox?

Yes, absolutely. It’s perfectly safe to use pond water on your garden or plants after dosing with Complete Pond Detox.

There are no harmful residues, and it won’t affect your soil or plant health in any way.
